The Mini Australian Shepherd is a versatile, energetic, and agile herding dog breed. They are swift runners and make great athletes. This easy-to-train breed runs faster than average dog breeds. Though there are no precise measurements, it is said that a Mini Aussie can run at a speed of 35 mph (56.3 kph). Red merle and blue merle Aussiedoodles are usually the product of a white- or cream-colored poodle parent and a merle Australian shepherd parent because the merle gene is dominant. Merle or piebald genes also play a part in the variance of eye color in Aussiedoodles. The history of the Mini Aussiedoodle is closely tied to the history of its parent breeds. The Miniature Australian Shepherd was created in the 1960s in the United States. The breed was developed by breeding the smallest Australian Shepherds together. The Miniature Poodle, on the other hand, has a much longer history.
There are four main colors black, red, blue merle, red merle and all these color groups have several variations. Black Australian Shepherds has four versions; these are solid black, black and tan, black bi, and tri-color. Blue Merle Australian Shepherd has Blue Merle Tri-Color, Solid Blue Merle, Blue Merle, and White Aussie, Blue Merle and Tan.
Red merle Australian Shepherds can come in both the standard size and the miniature size. The miniature dog is about 20-30 pounds and anywhere from 14-18 inches at the shoulder. The standard size gets anywhere from 35-70 pounds and 18-23 inches at the shoulder.
